JEE Main 2027 Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme (Based on the Latest NTA Pattern)
A thorough understanding of the JEE Main examination pattern is just as important as knowing the syllabus. The exam pattern provides valuable insights into the structure of the paper, the distribution of questions, the marking scheme, and the level of preparation required. Familiarity with these aspects enables candidates to develop an effective preparation strategy, improve time management, and maximize their performance on the examination day.
Based on the latest examination pattern followed by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the JEE Main Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.) is conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode and comprises 75 compulsory questions distributed equally among Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Each subject contains 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and 5 Numerical Value Questions, making a total of 25 questions per subject.
The Mathematics section consists of 25 questions carrying 100 marks. Every correct answer is awarded 4 marks, while 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect response in the MCQ section. Numerical Value Questions do not provide answer choices and must be solved accurately by the candidates. As per the latest pattern, all questions are compulsory, and there are no optional questions.

JEE Main Mathematics Syllabus: Chapter-wise Topics, Weightage & Preparation Strategy
The JEE Main Mathematics syllabus is designed to assess a student's conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and problem-solving ability. The Mathematics section of the examination consists of 30 questions, including 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and 10 Numerical Value Questions, carrying a total of 100 marks. A well-planned preparation strategy focusing on concept clarity, speed, and accuracy is essential to achieve a high score.
Among all the units, Calculus contributes the highest share of questions (approximately 35%), followed by Algebra (around 25%) and Coordinate Geometry (approximately 20%). These topics consistently form the core of the examination and should be prioritized during preparation. Trigonometry, Vectors, and Three-Dimensional Geometry also contribute significantly and play an important role in maximizing the overall score.
The syllabus was streamlined by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in 2023, and no changes have been introduced for the 2025–26 academic session. Consequently, the same syllabus serves as the reference for students preparing for JEE Main 2027, unless any further notification is issued by the NTA. Certain topics, including Mathematical Reasoning and Mathematical Induction, have been excluded from the scored syllabus and are therefore not considered for evaluation.

Has the JEE Main 2027 Mathematics Syllabus Been Reduced?
As of now, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has not issued any official notification regarding changes to the JEE Main 2027 Mathematics syllabus. Therefore, students should continue their preparation according to the latest officially prescribed syllabus.
The most recent major revision to the Mathematics syllabus was implemented for JEE Main 2024, and the same syllabus has remained in effect for subsequent examination sessions. Unless the NTA announces any further modifications, aspirants preparing for JEE Main 2027 should follow this existing syllabus.
